How we make money

Running the Registry costs money: hands-on testing takes time and paid accounts. We expect to fund it in two ways, both labeled wherever they apply.

Affiliate links

Some vendor links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Listings with affiliate links show an Affiliate link label in rankings and on the tool page, and the link is marked rel="sponsored".

Sponsorship

Vendors may sponsor the site. Sponsors are labeled Sponsor wherever they appear.

What money can’t buy

• Inclusion in a category, or exclusion of a competitor.
• A higher score, a better rank, or a softer rationale.
• Early access to scores or the ability to review them before publication.

A tool’s rank is computed only from its criterion scores. Commercial relationships aren’t an input. See the methodology.
